As I'm running through the new year thoughts (don't believe in resolutions - always seem to let yourself down when you don't achieve them) I came across one very faint one that was hiding from me, probably because it's much easier not doing than doing. This year I'm goanna kick that Sloth out of my head and going full steam ahead with posting more about the things I love - photography, food, wine (sometimes too much), travelling, and my thoughts on everything under the sun.
So here's hello to 2011. I hope you ready for me.

Odette and Henry
17 October 2009
Rusticana wine farm
What an awesome couple, relaxed, fun, spontaneous and willing to try everything to get these stunning pics.
We met Odette at the beautiful Marianna Estate just outside Stellenbosch with the bride looking relaxed and radiant. I took quite a couple pics of Otette here and could have stayed the whole day but decided she should get to the ceremony.
At Rusticana Henry left no stone unturned in giving Odette the fairytale wedding she had always dreamed about. I’d definitely recommend him for event planning!
The ceremony was beautiful and touching and left most of us wiping away a few tears.
The love between the two was evident and touching and at the end of the evening it was like saying good night to friends we’ve known for a long time.

Leana & Cherman
10 October 2009
Riebeeck Valley Hotel
On 10 October 2009 we headed into the Riebeeck Valley for the first time. (And after experiencing the beauty and hospitality of the people there, it will definitely not be the last time!)
Arriving at Leana’s house it was a hive of activity with the bridesmaids and flower girl getting the final touches of hair and make-up done. Then it was Leana’s turn to enjoy a bit of pampering before taking off to the ceremony.
A beautiful ceremony followed where after we took a quick drive through the streets to show of Mr and Mrs Baron
The reception took place at the beautiful Riebeeck Valley Hotel and Leana and Cherman were naturals! One could really see the love they share and we had so much fun taking their photos!

Lee-Ann & Werner du Plessis
26 September 2009, Neethlingshof
If superstitions are true and rain on your wedding day brings good luck and many children, Lee-Ann and Werner are sure to experience abundance in all areas of their new life together!
At the Yellow Lodge in Stellenbosch we were greeted by a radiant Lee-Ann and her bridal party. This bride’s attention to detail was apparent from the beginning, starting with the beautiful little cross pinned on her petticoat! Gorgeous jewellery and hair rounded off this beautiful bride and her pictures definitely show more then what I can say in words! The staircase leading up to the bridal suite made for great photographic opportunities with the four flower girls and three bridesmaids.
Arriving at Neethlingshof, the ceremony was moved into the restaurant. The red carpet with rose petals and hearts hanging from the chandeliers resulted a true sacred and romantic atmosphere. With the rain softly falling outside, Lee-Ann and Werner made their commitment to each other - afterwards dashing quickly outside to give guests the chance to shower them with rose petals!
Nothing was going to rain on this couple’s parade and after taking a few shots indoors, we braved it with four (!) umbrellas and went for a stroll outside. A big THANK YOU to Lee-Ann and Werner for their willingness to go out and make the photos they have dreamt about, a reality (and to their best man for resigning himself to a wet jacket for the night in trying to keep the couple – and sometimes even the photographer – dry!
At the reception one could really experience the effort that went into planning their big day – crystals, flowers and candles, and the special care taken in remembering those who were watching from above.
After a scrumptious supper, the DJ kept the guests on the dance floor and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” will forever bring a smile to the faces of those that shared in Lee-Ann and Werner’s special day!

Sanchia & Garth Arendse
19 September 2009, Photos at Lourensford, Somerset West
Months of long-distance planning (all the way from London) culminated in the most beautiful wedding day for Sanchia and Garth!
Saturday morning rolled by and for a few hours it almost seemed as if the cold and wet British weather followed them here, but it ended up to be a beautiful day! The only water around turned out to be tears of joy (me myself having to wipe away one or two as the couple exchanged their vows)!
The camera loved Sanchia in her beautiful gown (only fitted once!) with shoes designed by Errol Arendz. With Garth by her side one could really see the love they have for each other – as is evident when you look at their photos! These photos are bound to bring back warm memories as winter approaches in London, and they can proudly show off the beautiful Somerset West scenery to their friends there.
The reception was a big home coming celebration – seeing friends and family they have not seen in 13 months as well as the celebration of their marriage! Both their fathers offered words of wisdom to the newly-weds, where after the guests tucked in to a delicious four course meal.
By the time we left, the bridal couple was still burning up the dance floor!

Leandra and Tyrone
25 April 2009, Kronenburg, Paarl (by Helene Pretorius)
So we arrive in pouring rain: cameras, umbrellas, raincoats (and more umbrellas)!
Leandra is getting ready in the honeymoon suite – beautiful interior that will definitely help with the photos if the rain does not let up. Her dress is spectacular – WOW! With disco lights (electricity was going up and down in Paarl!) we take stunning bridal portraits. The pink Dodge is already waiting outside and with 5 minutes to go until the ceremony, the rain lets up!
Dark clouds are still around as the little fairy and bridesmaid make their way down the isle. Here comes Leandra and her father (who is sharing his 60th birthday with his daughter on her wedding day!) As they make their way down the isle Tyrone comes and meets them halfway amongst laughter and smiles by the guests. Just as the Leandra and Tyrone are pronounced “husband and wife” the sun breaks through the clouds!
In our meetings leading up to their wedding we formed a genuine relationship with them, so taking their photos was like being with friends we’ve known for a long time!
After family and friends’ photos are done every one enters the hall - the décor (black and pink) is striking and attention to detail - immaculate, from the floral arrangements to the beautifully packaged gifts. It is a wonderful evening - the jazz band keeping everyone entertained until late in the night!
